North Texas elementary school names new principal after previous leader's sudden passing
FORT WORTH, Texas — A North Texas elementary school has hired a new principal after the sudden death of Leigh Anne Romer earlier this month, school officials announced. Edwina West-Dukes, who was previously a principal in the Keller school district, is replacing Romer at J.C. Thompson Elementary School in the Northwest Independent School District, officials said. Romer served as the principal for 12 years before her sudden passing on July 7.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth ISD leaders are back to the drawing board when it comes to the plans for the future of the district. School Board Members had a lot of questions Tuesday about the district's 5-year strategic plan. That plan laid out a path to improving test scores, addressing declining enrollment, facilities use, and educational goals. But when brought up for a vote the school board did not decide in the Superintendent's favor.
AHS reschedules Summer Institute for 2027
The American Harp Society (AHS) has recently announced changes to several upcoming programs and events. The organization said in a press release that the adjustments better align the AHS and World Harp Congress joint event, One Harp World (to be held in Toronto, Ontario, in 2026), and also allow time for the organization to complete its 2025–2030 Strategic Plan during the coming fiscal year.
White Settlement Library's TinkerLab Invites Families to Last Blast of STEAM Fun Before School Year

Steel going up for future Rodriguez Junior High School
The future Joey Rodriguez Junior High School has gone vertical. That means the steel is now being erected for the frame of the facility. After lots of preparations – grading, installing utilities, drilling piers, pouring grade beams and more – it’s starting to look like a real building. The masonry walls for the gymnasium and storm shelter are also going up.
Navigate parking, passes ahead of fall semester
As fall semester approaches, UTA is preparing students to navigate parking and higher-than-normal traffic on campus. Parking and Transportation Services suggests that students use the new UTA Parking Finder app, especially for the first two weeks of the semester. The app tells students where they can park with their permits and shows current or future occupancy when a lot is selected.
