Armed With A Bat, 2 Men Arrested After Argument Leads To Chase, Police Say

Two men were arrested after a 911 caller claimed that they were armed with a bat and were chasing her down the highway while beating her vehicle along the way.

The caller said she and her sister were in her SUV and were attempting to get away from her ex and his friend who were in hot pursuit.

The women pleaded with a dispatcher for help.

Cameras captured the moment Edmond Police intercepted the vehicles.

Edmond 911. What's the address of the emergency?

Caller: We have people... (screaming) trying to run us off the road!

The caller claimed she and her sister fled Arcadia Lake following an argument with her ex-boyfriend, Manuel Herrera.

911 caller: Heading towards the freeway, it's my crazy ex-boyfriend!

The woman said Herrara was armed with a bat, hanging from the window of a car that was being driven by his friend Edwin Murillo.

911 caller: He’s behind us, going to the side of us, banging on the windows with a bat!

The two vehicles raced down the interstate.

911 caller: Go! go! I’m going north [on Interstate] 35!

911 caller: Oh my God, we're going to freaking crash! Stop! Please!

Police were staged at a gas station at East 2nd Street and South Coltrane Road.

911 caller: We see a cop! We see a cop!

The women were safe.

911 caller: They pulled him over! (crying)

Police confronted Murillo and Herrera.

Police: Hey! What's going on?

Police: Why are people calling saying you're hitting her windows?

With the help of a translator, police learned the former couple had argued over a vehicle that was driven by the victim.

Police: Basically, it's his girlfriend and his car, both are on the title.

An argument that went too far. Its aftermath was captured on cell phone video that was reviewed by police.

Police: Apparently, they were trying to leave, and they kept pulling in front of them. She had to gun it to get around the gate. He's riding down 15th [Street] on the wrong side of the road trying to cut her off the entire time.

Officers collected a metal bat from the suspects' vehicle and arrested Murillo and Herrera.

Police say several calls to 911 reported the incident that unfolded on multiple busy roads.

Police say that no one was injured.

Both men remain jailed in the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
