Vail Pass camera captures one of Colorado’s new wolves
The Colorado Corridors Project in June captured its first photo of a wolf on Vail Pass. The photo features the wolf staring directly into the camera and was taken by a remote-triggered camera on the north side of East Vail pass. The photo tracks with information provided in Colorado Parks...
Eagle County Getaways & Eagle Ranch Golf Club
Since it opened in 2001, Eagle Ranch Golf Club has offered a great balance between mountain golf’s challenges and the welcoming experience of a friendly resort course. The Arnold Palmer-designed course avoids some of the elevation chicanery of other mountain courses; their world is flat. Like a lot of...
Makoto is Vail’s newest sushi paradise
When was the last time a dining experience transported you to a different world? At Makoto at Grand Hyatt Vail, it’s easy to believe that a bespoke restaurant has been lifted directly from Japan and placed in Vail. Entering the dining room, guests are greeted with warmth: wood, textures and buttery light. Choose a table on the enclosed patio for stellar views of Gore Creek, but truly, expansive vistas are available from almost any seat. This is Executive Chef Makoto Okuwa’s first restaurant in a mountain town; his love of the area is expressed in the design and décor.
Vail Getaways & Vail Golf Club
The Vail Valley has 1,000 summer delights, but anchored dead-center is the Vail Golf Club. The public course runs along, beside and over Gore Creek at the base of the Gore Mountains. The clubhouse is just east of Vail Village and the beautiful log clubhouse doubles as the local parks and recreation Nordic center in the winter.
Vin48 offers cheerful, energetic cuisine in Avon
It’s hard to imagine a time when Vin48 didn’t center Avon, spreading good cheer, good food, good fun. Occupying the west side of the town’s “boat building,” the architecture helped define the restaurant with a rounded, expansive bar area that early on became a high-energy hotspot. Add to that the airy dining room with wine-wall accents and summertime’s patio seating, and you’ve got a classic example of a convivial neighborhood joint.

But for anglers who desire a bit more adventure with a fly rod, conditions are perfect for angling opportunities off the beaten path. The summer season passes too quickly, so grab it while you can and get lost with a fly rod.
Straight No Chaser brings the ’90s back to Beaver Creek
Barbershop quartets are one thing, but when nine men take the stage to sing a cappella, the harmonies become much richer, leading to a much bigger and more powerful sound. “It’s a little different with more guys. You have more flexibility … it gives you the opportunity to layer harmonies,” said Tyler Trepp.
Vail wants a competitive process for Artist in Residency studio as costs rise
For nearly two decades, Vail has been working to build a residency program and a dedicated workspace for artists to come and create in town. With a space in mind at Ford Park for a studio to host the program, the town has been working to create a vision for the site, taking it through the necessary planning and design processes over the past few years.
