Beyond the Call of Duty honors fallen Madison police officer
MADISON, Miss. (WJTV) – A national group that recognizes the lives of fallen officers made a stop in Madison on Thursday. Beyond the Call of Duty presented their “End of Watch: Ride to Remember” Rolling Memorial and honored fallen Officer Horren Randy Tyler. He served more than 27 years in law enforcement. Tyler died in the line of duty while responding to a standoff in Brandon on June 1, 2023.

Pearl River man sentenced to 10 Years in prison
Jackson, MS – A Pearl River man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for incest on the Choctaw Indian Reservation. According to court documents, Ronnie Reed, Sr., 52, had a sexual relationship with a family member in the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation. Reed was indicted by a federal grand jury in October 2023, and pleaded guilty to the charge in April 2024.

Court proceedings delay reopening of behavioral health unit in Jackson
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) - The St. Dominic Behavioral Health unit closed in June 2023. And despite plans for it to reopen with different ownership, a lawsuit is delaying that. Texas-based Oceans Behavioral Health had applied to lease the unit as a separately licensed psychiatric hospital. According to filed documents, Ocean’s plan is to offer acute adult psychiatric services using the existing 77 inpatient beds formerly offered by St. Dominic.
