Across the world, 911 centers, businesses, airlines, banks, media outlets and more have been affected by the widespread outage.

The Effingham City/County 911 said their 911 phone providers worked continuously through the night trying to get service back up to full capacity. They said 911 services are working as they should and encouraged anyone who is having an emergency to continue calling 911.

They said they still have some remaining issues with the non-emergency lines at the sheriff’s office. Anyone having trouble with those calls should dial 911 to reach the county. In addition, the Effingham City Police Department administrative lines are working at this time and anyone who needs assistance can call 217-347-0772.

“We are hopeful all services will return to normal soon!” they added.
