EL PASO, Texas (Border Report) – Chihuahua state police on Friday confirmed the recovery of five bodies abandoned near a highway in Chihuahua City.

The state attorney general’s office declined to comment on Mexican media reports that the victims are the five missing ride-share drivers who disappeared on May 30 in the border town of Ojinaga. The drivers reported to their relatives driving fares to the town opposite Presidio, Texas, some three hours north of the state capital.

“It won’t be until forensic examinations are concluded and the Crimes Against Persons Unit presents its initial findings that the identities of the victims will be established,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement.

Chihuahua police received reports about possibly deceased persons in the Chihuahua-Aldama Highway at 7:50 a.m. on Friday. Videos and photos obtained by a Border Report camera crew in Chihuahua show two bloated, naked male bodies lying on the ground and blankets covering the remaining three bodies.

Prosecutors on Friday still had no official information on the whereabouts of Abigael Ramos Gonzalez, his son Abigael Ramos Torres, his brother Fabian Ramos Torres, Sandra Salais Calzadillas and Francisco Ivan Flores Hernandez.

The five told family members they were taking fares to Ojinaga and one notified relatives that he was on his way back. Their cars were located days later by relatives using a GPS app.
