Borderland children’s museums bring to life beyond-border exhibit

EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — Two children’s museums in the Borderland will be partnering to bring to life an interactive exhibit that makes guests feel like they are in the same space, despite being divided by the U.S.-Mexico border.

La Nube and La Rodadora Interactive Space, a children’s museum in Cuidad Juarez, will both have the interactive exhibit “Connected Sky” for their guests to utilize and respond to the other museum in real time, La Nube said in a news release.

“Connected Sky” will be a 28-foot-wide video wall that guests can interact together in both museums by creating cloud forms, share rainbows, shoot fireworks, create paper planes and more, La Nube said.

The partnership was made possible by Flō Networks which will be providing the high-speed connectivity to bring the exhibits to life.

“We are extremely excited about Connected Sky. Thanks to Flō’s generosity, we will have an ultra-fast interactive exhibit that will erase the border and connect our shared blue sky with La Rodadora,” said Stephanie Otero, interim director of La Nube and vice president of operations for the El Paso Community Foundation.

“The Connected Sky interaction allows us to understand how technology and science can be very powerful tools to transcend physical barriers. This exhibition offers the public a real-time visual transmission that connects these two emblematic border cities through play and allows us to understand that we all live under the same sky and do not need words to communicate and respect each other,” said Monica Felix, executive director at La Rodadora Interactive Space.
