EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The Conference USA Football Kickoff for the 2024 season was held at the PGA of America Headquarters in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday.

UTEP head coach Scotty Walden, wide receiver Trey Goodman, and bandit Maurice Westmoreland were the three individuals representing the Miners at CUSA Media Day.

The 2024 season will mark the first that the UTEP football program will be led by new head coach Scotty Walden. UTEP is entering the first year of a rebuilding phase but that does not mean they aren’t going to try their best to compete with some of the best in the league.

“I know this is talking season as the great Steve Spurrier would say. There is a lot of predictions out there and stuff like that and not a lot of people believe in us right now and that’s fine,” UTEP football head coach Scotty Walden said on Tuesday. “It’s going to be one of those deals where people are going to find out one way or another. At the end of the day, we know what we are building, we know we are doing, and we know the expectations we have for our program. I am not one of those guys that is aiming to have this many or that many wins in year one, to me it’s all about putting a competitive product on the field.”

UTEP is set to begin its training camp for the 2024 college football season next Thursday, Aug. 1.
