    List of memorials, ceremonies in honor of Aug. 3 victims

    EL PASO, Texas ( KTSM ) — A list of memorials and ceremonies will be taking place next month in memory of the 23 victims who lost their lives on August 3, 2019, in the Walmart mass shooting.

    Remembrance Ceremony and Public Art Memorial Unveiling of August 3, 2019

    The City of El Paso is hosting a special remembrance ceremony and public art memorial unveiling in memory of the victims at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3 at Jim Crouch Park located at 7500 W H Burges.

    Unite with Light

    The community is encouraged to light their porches or windows orange in honor of the victims at 8:30 p.m. starting on Sunday, July 28 through Saturday, Aug. 3.

    Various landmarks and buildings will be illuminated in orange as well. Those are the following:

    • Public Art Sculpture on I-10 an Airway
    • Public Art near the Abraham Chavez Theater
    • El Paso International Airport landscaping, walking path and terminal
    • Blue Flame Building

    Remembrance of August 3, 2019

    A tribute to the victims will be on display outside council chambers starting on Monday, July 29 through Friday, Aug. 2. The tribute will display the pictures of the 23 people who lost their lives.

    El Paso Heals

    Live Active El Paso will be hosting two sound bath meditations in collaboration with United Way of El Paso. Information on the two sound bath meditations are the following:

    • 6 p.m. through 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30
      • Pat O’Rourke Recreation Center, located at 901 N. Virginia St.
    • 6 p.m. through 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1
      • Sylvia Carreon Community Center, located at 709 Lomita Dr.

    Remembrance of August 3, 2019 , Community Blood Drive

    The community is encouraged to donate blood in memory of those who lost their lives on the following dates and times:

    • 10 a.m. through 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1
      • El Paso City Hall, located at 300 N. Campbell
    • 10 a.m. through 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2
      • El Paso Zoo, located at 4001 E. Paisano Dr.

    Acts of Kindness: The El Paso Play

    The Mexican American Cultural Center in collaboration with UTEP’s Department of Theatre and Dance and UTEP’s College of Liberal Arts will be presenting a theatrical montage inspired by interviews that were conducted after the shooting in 2019.

    The play is being performed at the El Paso Museum of Art located at 1 Arts Festival Plaza for the first time to mark the fifth anniversary and admission is free. The dates and times for the event will be the following:

    • 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2
    • 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3
    • 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4

    August 3, 2019 , Memorial Poppies

    El Paso Museum of History Digital Wall will display a digital memorial for the victims of the shooting starting on Friday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 4 located at 501 N. Santa Fe St.

    The public can access the digital wall by touching the blooming Mexican Gold Poppies that have been added to the El Paso cityscape.

    Memorial Items from August 3, 2019

    El Paso Museum of History will feature some of the recovered objects from the original memorial site on Friday, Aug. 2 through Sunday, Aug. 4 located at 510 N. Santa Fe St.

    In Loving Light: A Luminarias Memorial

    The El Paso Museum of Archaeology will honor the victims with a small luminaria display inside the museum diorama gallery on Saturday, Aug. 3 located at 4301 Woodrow Bean Transmountain Dr.

    Day of Resilience Ceremony – County of El Paso Healing Garden

    El Paso County and United Way of El Paso will host remembrance activities around the Healing Garden from 6 p.m. through 9 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Ascarate Park.

    El Paso County officials will unveil a mural dedicated to the victims of the shooting. Beginning at 8:30 p.m., a reading of the names and light beams ceremony will close the night.

    Star on the Mountain

    The Star on the Mountain will flash 23 times in honor of the victims who lost their lives at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3.

    ADL Hosts Panel: Remembering August 3, 2019: Memorial Trauma and Extremism

    The Anti-Defamation League will be hosting a discussion to honor the victims and talk about the impact of extremism in the Borderland from 5:30 p.m. through 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Philanthropy Theatre located at 1 Civic Center Plaza.

    • The discussion will be moderated by Robert Holguin and will include the following panelists:
      • Dena Marks, law enforcement liaison for ADL
      • Bob Moore, president and CEO of El Paso Matters
      • Elizabeth Robles, licensed trauma and grief therapist
