EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Chihuahuas were on the brink of snapping its seven-game losing streak, but things did not end up playing out that way on Friday night at Smith’s Ballpark.

El Paso had a 3-2 lead over the Salt Lake Bees in the bottom of the ninth inning with two outs. Salt Lake had runners at first and second. It all went downhill for the Chihuahuas after Salt Lake’s Bryce Teodosio hit a fly ball to right fielder Oscar Mercado. It looked like a routine fly ball catch for Mercado until it didn’t. Mercado did not catch the ball and both runners ended up coming across home plate to give the Bees a 4-3 win.

The Chihuahuas failed to snap its losing streak with Mercado’s mistake in the ninth. The Chihuahuas are now losers of its last eight games.

Game five of the series between the Chihuahuas and Bees is on Saturday. First pitch at Smith’s Ballpark is at 6:35 p.m. MT.
