Good Samaritan rescues boy from fall in surging Des Moines River
OTTUMWA, Iowa — Tim Bukowski was expecting to take in a summer evening fishing on the Des Moines River by the Ottumwa Hydro-Dam on Friday, June 28. Police: No One’s a Good Drunk Driver
As Iowans celebrate Independence Day, the Ottumwa Police Department and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Bureau (GTSB) reminds all drivers, No One’s a Good DRUNK driver. The Fourth of July is one of the deadliest times to be on Iowa roadways. Between 2019 and 2023, there were 32 traffic fatalities during the holiday. In 16 of those fatalities, alcohol was a contributing factor. Nationwide in 2022, a person was killed every 39 minutes in a drunk driving crash.
