    UPDATE: Two arrested in connection to shooting incident that injured 6-year-old boy in Elgin

    ELGIN, Minn. (WKBT) -- Two people are arrested in connection to a shooting incident in Elgin, Minnesota that sent a 6-year-old to the hospital.

    The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says Raymond Duque and Nicole McGee were arrested Tuesday.

    On June 25, a loaded shotgun was left unsecured inside a vehicle and a 6-year-old boy was accidentally shot while two other children were inside, according to authorities.

    Duque faces possession of a firearm-conviction of crime of violence, three counts of endangerment of child by firearm access and negligent storage firearms-loaded-child can access.

    McGee faces three counts of endangerment of child by firearm access and negligent storage firearms-loaded-child can access.

    The 6-year-old suffered serious injuries to the abdomen and arms and was sent to the hospital where he remains. Authorities could not specify his condition.

    Six-year-old injured in shooting

    ELGIN, Minn. (WKBT) -- Authorities in Wabasha County are investigating an apparent accidental shooting of a 6-year-old.

    The Wabasha County Sheriff's Office says they received 911 calls at 6:38 p.m. Tuesday reporting a 6-year-old with gunshot wounds at a residence in Elgin.

    The incident happened outside of the home, according to the release.

    The child was taken to the emergency department with serious injuries to the abdomen and arms.

    The incident appears to be accidental, according to the sheriff's office. The sheriff's office confirmed that the incident was caused by another individual. The investigation is ongoing. Following the investigation, the case will be reviewed by prosecutors.
