BASTROP COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Austin Community College Elgin is closed on Tuesday due to a water main break, according to its social media .

All classes and activities at ACC Elgin were canceled Tuesday, but the campus will reopen Wednesday under a boil water notice, ACC said. The college recommended bringing your own water to campus Wednesday. All other ACC campuses remained open.

The Aqua Water Supply Corporation also issued a boil water notice for part of Bastrop County . The water supply said the notice was issued due to distribution system pressure losses caused by a line break that happened Tuesday. It didn’t specify where the line break occurred, however.

The affected area includes customers north of FM 969 and west of Hwy. 95, in Zone 3 and Zone 6 of Aqua WSC’s service area. More details and a map of the area are available online .

Aqua WSC said if a meter is in the affected area, the customer will receive a direct phone call from Aqua WSC using the number listed on the account.

Aqua Water Supply Corporation officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or consumption when the boil lifts.

    What to do

Aqua WSC said children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions.

To ensure the destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled before use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Aqua Water Supply Corporation at 512-303-3943.
