ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (WJHL) – Saturday marked another milestone for the Charlie & Jane Bayless Scholarship Golf Tournament.

About 120 golfers, split among 30 teams, took to the Elizabethton Golf Course, as the event marked its 20th year of raising scholarship money for Happy Valley High School students.

“We get them from Elizabethton, Hampton, Unicoi. Just all the schools coming out here, it really just means a lot that everyone comes out and pitches in.”

Organizers, such as president of the Charlie & Jane Bayless Scholarship Fund, Bo Milhorn, are thrilled by both the turnout and the longevity of the tournament.

“It’s great – one of our board members had commented that most benefit tournaments have a life of about five years,” he said. “Now, we’re going on our twentieth. That’s just a testament to everybody that’s coming out and playing – a lot of friends of the scholarship fund.”

“A lot of friends of Coach and Jane and we’re just happy to be able to come out here and raise some money for Happy Valley Students.”

Milhorn said he believes the scholarship fund’s goal to raise between $5,000-$7,000 would be reached through sponsorships and tournament fees.
