    Axmen stay hot at home, Doughboys win in E-Town

    (WJHL) – Appalachian League teams began a final series on Saturday night before Monday’s All-Star break.

    Muhumed, Smith win USATF 8K road titles at Crazy 8s 8K Race

    In Elizabethton, three runs from the Doughboys in the fifth frame secured a 5-3 road victory.

    Kyler Proctor and Braden Spano (Milligan) each launched two-run homers, while Nate Conner added the additional RBI for Johnson City.

    Owen Slater earned the win on the mound, allowing two runs on three hits in 6.0 innings of work. Spencer Powell (UVA-Wise) pitched 4.0 solid innings for the River Riders to start the contest, striking out five batters and allowing just two runs.

    Tennessee’s Dylan Loy stole the show in Kingsport on Saturday, as he went 7.0 scoreless innings in the Axmen’s 10-0 shutout of the Ridge Runners.

    A trio of Kingsport’s All-Star selections – Mason Swinney, Cal Sefcik and Devan Zirwas – accounted for seven combined RBI on the night. Jack Torbett (Walters State) also added an RBI in the victory.
