Officers of VFW Post 2166 and the 2166 Auxiliary have announced an indoor rummage sale to be held August 2-4. The sale will take place in the “Great Hall” of Captain Lynn H. Folsom VFW Post 2166.
David Batchelder, VFW Service Officer, expressed enthusiasm about the event, noting the quality and quantity of donated items from both members and the public. “It’s been more than four years since we’ve last hosted a rummage sale, and we are pleased with the interest this event has generated in Elizabethton,” Batchelder said.
The rummage sale will be open during the following hours:
- Friday, Aug. 2: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 3: 8 a.m. – 1 p.m.
- Sunday, Aug. 4: 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (half-price day)
Batchelder added that by Friday, auxiliary and post members will have spent three nights preparing the sale, including receiving, organizing, staging, and pricing a wide range of items. All proceeds will benefit veterans in Elizabethton and Carter County.
Last year, VFW Post 2166 was one of only 30 posts in Tennessee to receive national recognition as an “All American” post and contributed over 1,050 hours of community service. Chartered in July 1931, the local VFW has been serving veterans of Carter County for over 90 years.
