Weekend will mark 16th annual Xtreme Roan Adventures
The Friends of Roan Mountain are again sponsoring a kid’s day of nature exploration known as the Xtreme Roan Adventures at the Roan Mountain State Park. The Adventures will start Friday evening, July 26, at the R.M.S.P. amphitheater with the Free Friday Night Adventures. This year’s stage show will explore a new way to look at nature. Chase deepens its footprint into East Tennessee opening more full-service branches
Chase Bank announced in February it planned to open 500 new branches nationwide and hire 3,500 employees over the next three years, including deeper into Tennessee. Following the expansion in the Nashville and Memphis markets and one branch near Knoxville, Chase will open five to six more branches in East Tennessee by the end of 2026. The 11242 Kingston Pike branch in Farragut opened in April and another branch at 503 Foothills Plaza in Maryville opened in May.

PIGEON FORGE, Tenn. (WVLT) - Dollywood announced Tuesday that the theme park is looking to hire for seasonal positions ahead of the fall and Christmas seasons. The theme park will be hosting several hiring events ahead of its Harvest Festival and Smoky Mountain Christmas events. They’re scheduled for the Sevierville Civic Center on Aug. 1, 8, 15 and 22 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Knox County Commission considers resolutions aimed at improving Beaver Creek, including Powell area
POWELL, Tenn. — Knox County Commissioners voted Monday after considering resolutions aimed at improving Beaver Creek. One resolution effectively approves a grant contract to remove the Coward Mill Dam in northwest Knox County and stabilize Beaver Creek's banks. By removing the dam, county leaders hope to promote water quality and fish passage. According to the resolution, Knox County will receive up to $546,600 from the Resource Protection competitive American Rescue Plan Grant.
