Four scholarships were decided on by the Bladen County Kiwanis Club last week.

ELIZABETHTOWN - The April monthly meeting of the Bladen County Kiwanis Club met Tuesday and final reads and discussion was made concerning the selection of scholarships for local students.

The Kiwanis Club, although small in numbers has been faithful in providing four scholarships to local students each year.

“We had applicants from Harrells Christina Academy, Bladen Early College, and East Bladen High school,” Dr. Lisa Lee Bryan, president of Kiwanis said. “We will have these students at a future meeting in June/July to receive a check and will take pictures then. I will also be at their awards ceremony to recognize them.”

Although there were many fine entries and the judging was difficult, according to Bryan, there were a few that stood out that the Kiwanis Club felt were exemplary.

The four $500 scholarships will be given out to: Anna Grace Johnson – Harrells Christian Academy, Joshua deAndrade – Harrells Christian Academy, Dyiamon Robinson – East Bladen High School and Jair McElveen – East Bladen High School.

Congratulations goes out to all students who participated and who will be going on to further their educations and also to the Kiwanis Club who puts this program together each year.
