ELK CITY, Okla. ( KFOR ) — The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead Friday evening in Elk City.

According to OSBI, Elk City Police responded to a disturbance call around 7 p.m. Friday near East Highway 66 and North County Road 2025. Upon arriving to the scene, officers found a man, Jerry Garcia, holding a knife.

Authorities say that officers told Garcia to drop his weapon but ignored the request before he allegedly moved towards them, causing officers to open fire and leading to the officer-involved shooting.

Paramedics attempted to treat Garcia for his injuries, but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials say no officers were injured.

OSBI is now involved in the ongoing investigation. There is no more information at this time.
