Beaver Creek Reserve hosts free camp
BEAVER CREEK, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Students in several school districts are getting the chance to go to day camps at a local nature reserve for free. Today (7/23/24), middle schoolers from Eau Claire spent the day at Coon Fork Beach to learn how to kayak and fish. The reserve partnered with the Eau Claire Area School District several years ago to provide free day camps for students, and since then, four other school districts have joined the fun.

Higher than normal volume of ‘Pets in car” cases in Eau Claire
EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WLAX/WEUX) – Eau Claire Police say they are seeing higher than normal cases of animals being left in hot cars. This can be bad for pets due to suffering from heat exhaustion and discomfort as cars can heat up quickly. The police department says they will contact pet owners after responding to a call, but if no progress has been made they will break the car window.
