Krissa Lane, of Elk River, launched Gizmo’s Bistro after embarking on a mission to create a tasty, healthy and beneficial treat for their dog. Most treats are over processed with no nutritional value and contain preservatives, she said. Gizmo’s Bistro is homemade with locally sourced ingredients.

Gizmo’s Bistro even makes its own peanut butter. No preservatives are added. And the ingredient list is under 10 items; some only have four.

But the best part, Lane said, is you don’t have to research the words in the list of ingredients, as you’ll recognize the words.

Gizmo’s Bistro also dehydrates rather than bake the treats.

Upon purchase it is recommended to refrigerate their dog treat, if you wish to have the treats last longer. They also freeze well. Gizmo’s Bistro has been making dog treats for the last three years. Lane travels to farmers markets and various pet events in Minneapolis, Little Falls, Buffalo, Uptown, Coon Rapids and right here in Elk River. The Elk River Farmers Market is held from 3-7 p.m. Thursdays at 716 Main St. in downtown Elk River.
