Lerner Theatre director steps down

Michelle Weir is leaving her post as the executive director of the Lerner Theatre in Elkhart.

She took on the position in 2016 and guided the theater, at 410 South Main St., to success after a renovation in 2011.

A press release from the city said: “We appreciate her dedication and professionalism, and we support her decision to take the career path best suited for her family and her future.”

The release also said the theater team’s dedication will ensure a smooth transition.

Upcoming events include the Elkhart Jazz Festival, concerts, Food Truck Fridays and Premier Arts performances.

The Lerner Theatre opened in 1924 and hosted Vaudeville acts and early motion pictures.
