Starmount seniors ended their high school careers Friday evening on the school football field as the sun was beginning to set. The ceremony for the 123 graduates began with a presentation of the colors by the Starmount JROTC and singing of the National Anthem by the Concert Choir.

Senior Aydan Parks gave the welcome address and invocation.

Parks said the ceremony was the celebration of a “new chapter.”

“It’s hard to believe how fast th epast four years have gone by,” Parks said. “It’s not the ending that we’ll remember the most, it’s all the memories we made a long the way.”

“The most important things in life are the small things that we may overlook at times,” he said. “Our graduation is a pretty bi deal but I want each of you to think about the journey that brought us to this point.”

Performing special music during Friday’s commencement ceremony at Starmount were seniors Ashlynn Abbott, Ella Vanhoy and Claire Vanhoy singing “Wherever I Go.” The Concert Choir also performed “I Lived.”

Sharing senior reflections was graduate Amelia Byrd.

“These past four years have been filled with challenges, growth and unforgettable memories. Each moment has shaped us into the individuals we are here tonight,” she said.

Also speaking during the ceremony were seniors Elizabeth Johnson who shared a look to the future and Olivia Ireland with a closing prayer.

Presentation of the diplomas and closing remarks were given by Starmount Principal Jonathan Frasher.
