Tired of the same old weekend getaways? Maybe it's time to try staying in a converted WWII train car.
In Maryville, Tennessee host Dean Smith spent 8 months converting a 1943 WWII troop train kitchen car into a beautiful short-term rental space.
Named Platform 1346, the train car was bought at a military surplus auction in Florida and painstakingly moved to its new resting place.
The exterior is military green and features a weathered patina befitting of its age.
However, the car's interior is full of modern luxury - a full farmhouse kitchen with rustic vibes is appointed with beautiful finishes and ultra-modern SMEG appliances. Industrial lighting creates a cozy atmosphere.
As a nod to the train's colorful history, Smith restored some of the car's original amenities, including the beautiful wood floors, exposed grooved ceiling, and a sliding door with original signage.
To keep you in the spirit of the times, Platform 1346 is decorated with vintage pieces like old cameras and an ancient game of Risk.
The train car is set on six acres of secluded land but there's a variety of things to do. You can sit on the deck and enjoy the view, or make use of the grill and horseshoe pit. Animal lovers will enjoy the fish pond as well as the owner's friendly dogs that greet you on the grounds.
