When Airbnb released its 2022 list of the most wait-listed properties in the country, it came as no surprise that the Glass Treehouse in Banner Elk, North Carolina ranked number one.

North Carolina has no shortage of luxury treehouses, but something about the hexagonal structure, floor-to-ceiling windows, beautiful Scandinavian interior, and panoramic views makes this one stand out.

Maybe that's why, with 93 reviews, the property has an average 5-star rating.

Starting with the drive up, the two-story structure, nestled into a beautiful mountain background, treats you to the sounds of your own private creek and a seasonal waterfall.

As you walk in, you get a sampling of the natural materials used throughout the home, with slate floors and Tennessee fieldstone in the entryway.

Coming into the main living area, you see the space is structured as an open, hexagonal space characterized by modern Scandinavian design in light, neutral colors with black accents. The wood-burning vintage Malm fireplace really leads the eye into the cozy living area.

The full kitchen, accented by a quartz waterfall island, is equipped with everything you need to whip up a gourmet meal (including premium appliances and local coffee).

The Glass Treehouse only has one bedroom, but it's a showstopper. The headboard is flanked by a colorful accent rock wall. Meanwhile, the opposing wall is floor-to-ceiling windows of your own private rock formation view.

A number of guests have said The Glass Treehouse is such an oasis they had to push themselves to leave the premises. But the surrounding nature awaits you from the comfort of your deck hot tub. The property also contains a grill and a firepit, so stock up on s'mores.

Host Ashley says the treehouse is "centrally located between Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, Grandfather Mountain, and Sugar Mountain," which means there's a variety of tourist destinations to check out nearby.

Guests seem to luxuriate in the treehouse's relaxing vibe:

The Glass Treehouse was absolutely magical! Such lush landscaping with streams, a fire pit, and a hammock. Inside was stunning! So much light!!
It was everything we hoped for and more. There isn’t a detail that you missed. From the stocked coffee bar to the luxury robes and essential oils.
If I could give it 10 stars I would. This home is truly spectacular. We had to convince ourselves to leave for a few hours.

Now the only problem is having the patience to sit out the waitlist. You can check that out here and have this one-of-a-kind experience for yourself.
