Faribault VFW's season ends after playoff losses to Northfield and Albert Lea
The Faribault VFW baseball team’s season came to a close last weekend in the playoffs as they traveled to Northfield and played three games, winning one. Their first game was against Albert Lea, which they won 5-2 on Saturday. They then faced off against an undefeated Northfield team, losing 13-3. Minnesota Looking to Increase Numbers of This Animal
The Minnesota DNR in collaboration with the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa plan to move elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part of the state near Cloquet and north. Glen Schmitt from Outdoor News joined me on WJON. He says the plan is to transfer 15 to 20 elk from the northwestern part of the state to the northeastern part with the hopes of growing the herd. Schmitt says elk used to live in that part of the state many years ago. He explains the plan is to do this annually starting in 2026 until the elk reproduce on their own.

Kansas City, MO – The Midwest is set to experience extreme heat in early August, with temperatures significantly above normal across the region. The US National Weather Service has issued a forecast predicting a widespread heatwave from August 1-7.
