KENNEWICK, Wash. - Officers with the Kennewick Police Department arrested a wanted Ellensburg man suspected in a drive-by shooting on July 4.

Omar Ornelas-Villa, 32, of Ellensburg, was arrested on suspicion of assault, unlawful possession of a firearm and drive-by shooting.

Investigators with the Ellensburg Police Department said Ornelas-Villa got into an argument at a gas station located on the 600 block of West University Way. When one of the men started to drive away, investigators said Ornelas-Villa opened fire and shot at least three times.

Several people at the scene left before police got there, investigators say. When officers got to the gas station, they realized no one had been shot.

On July 5, Ornelas-Villa was arrested by officers with the Kennewick Police Department. What led up to his arrest has not yet been released.

The shooting remains under investigation at this time. If you have any information, please call the detectives with the Ellensburg Police department at 509-962-7122.
