Bedford mother and son kicks in door and beats man with tire iron
BLOOMINGTON — A Bedford man and his mother were arrested after police say they kicked in a Bloomington man’s door and beat him with a tire iron. Police arrested 38-year-old Phillip Dean Magness Jr., of Bedford, and his mother, 56-year-old Jamie Jo Staten, of Farmersburg, on charges of burglary with a deadly weapon, battery with a deadly weapon, and criminal mischief.

Police seek information in Jade Sanders’ death
BLOOMINGTON – It has been six months since the tragic death of 37-year-old Jade Sanders, whose body was found in a roadside ditch on Sunday, January 28, 2024. Sanders, identified as experiencing homelessness at the time, was discovered by a motorist who spotted her in the brush on the west side of the 3200 block of South Walnut Street Pike.

Sean Marselis Rivers, 23, is charged with criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony, and false informing, a Class B misdemeanor, after Bloomington Police say he fired a gun several times into a wooded area on July 4, 2024.
