FEMALE ASTRONAUT HONORED IN E’VILLE
A partnership between Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce and Griffis Sculpture Park is bringing a ten-foot-tall bronze statue of astronaut Tracy Caldwell Dyson, one of NASA’s most prominent women, to downtown Ellicottville. “We’ve worked with Griffis Sculpture Park the past few years to bring an inspirational statue to the four corners of Ellicottville,” says Brian McFadden, executive director of the Chamber. “With the majority of Ellicottville’s business owners or co-owners being women, we wanted to keep with the theme of showcasing a female role model.” The work, created by Australian collaborative artists Gillie and Marc Schattner, was donated to Griffis. See it at the Village Gazebo through fall.
