SENT Topeka opens new weekly food pantry
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Sent Topeka launched the southside filling station on Aug 27. It is open to anyone who needs assistance with household needs. “We’re not doing income restrictions or putting people through a whole bunch of hoops because that lowers the dignity of a person. We trust our friends and neighbors to be truthful just like we want them to trust us about our words,” said Sent Founder Johnathan Sublet.
TPD arrests three following a pair of served search warrants
TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) - Three men were arrested following a pair of search warrants served by the Topeka Police Department (TPD) and Shawnee Co. Drug Task Force on Tuesday. The TPD and Shawnee Co. Drug Task Force served search warrants in the 4300 block of SE Liveoak Drive and 1800 block of SW Van Buren on Tuesday, Aug. 27.
Overland Park hires new police chief
OVERLAND PARK, Kan. (KCTV) - Overland Park has a new police chief. On Tuesday, the City of Overland Park named Doreen Jokerst the city’s next Chief of Police. Jokerst comes to Overland Park from the University of Colorado Boulder, where she spent the past six years as the university’s assistant vice chancellor for public safety and chief of police. She guided the department to become the first nationally accredited police department in Boulder County, Colorado.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has confirmed a body, believed to be Jonathan Clayton, Peabody interim city clerk, was located Sunday afternoon. Christopher King, husband, called a reporter at Harvey County Now/Hillsboro Free Press to inform them of the development.
