RICH CITY GIRL (f, 2, City of Light–Hassler {Ire}, by War Front), a $195,000 KEESEP yearling turned $435,000 OBSMAR breezer, was working bullets at Hawthorne for Larry Rivelli ahead of her debut and ran them off their feet for a sharp score as the slight 2-1 favorite. Scratched out of Friday evening's Prairie Gold Lassie Stakes at Prairie Meadows in favor of this spot, Rich City Girl was on the engine from her inside draw and was hounded through an opening quarter in :22.12. She began to shake clear as they approached the top of the stretch, and, despite hanging on her left lead down the lane, cruised home to a 3 1/4-length victory. Second-time starter and $410,000 OBS April graduate Praying (Vekoma) was second. It was another 3/4 of a length back to the debuting $400,000 OBS April product Mischief Night (Practical Joke) in third. Hassler, a daughter of MGISW Turbulent Descent (Congrats), had a colt by Not This Time in 2023 and a filly by Epicenter this year. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $42,505. Click for the Equibase.com chart.
