Crisis averted at the Wood Co. Fair Milkshake Barn
TOLEDO, Ohio (WTVG) - It was a close call for thewood County Clover Legacy Foundation and 4-H club at the Wood County Fairgrounds. The team learned their water was set to be shut off, which would’ve left 700 tubs of ice cream at the milkshake barn to melt and go sour. With some quick thinking and the generosity of some local business owners there will be milkshakes at the fair this weekend.
Inside the Five's new menu shows promise
When a foodie friend first told me we need to check out Inside the Five Brewing Co., I immediately looked up the menu and began craving the buffalo mac and cheese until the day finally came when I sat myself down in a booth at the downtown Perrysburg location. I’m always indecisive on what to order — but not this day. Our server patiently allowed us to catch up for what was maybe a little too long before we even ordered an appetizer (the delectably creamy jalapeno bacon balls ($15). When she came back to take our main dishes, I requested the buffalo mac — only to hear that the menu was changing and the mac and cheese bowls were no longer offered.

Close encounters: Sloth craze creeps into Port Clinton
PORT CLINTON — Standing in an uncomfortably warm and humid room, Kelsey Keller grabbed a zucchini slice from a bucket and waved it around. Slowly, even more slowly than one would think, Cayenne the sloth rose to attention. One groggy-looking limb at a time, she reached out of her wooden perch and toward a tree branch. Over the next minute, Cayenne climbed down the branch until she was comfortably hanging upside down from the lowest branch. Cayenne reached out one of her two-pronged hands in hopes of snatching the zucchini slice. Keller, the director of the African Safari Wildlife Park, located at 267 S. Lightner Rd. in Port Clinton, pulled the zucchini away and half-jokingly rebuked the sloth’s greed. Once Cayenne wrapped her hand back around the branch, Keller placed the tip of the zucchini in her mouth and then let the sloth do the rest of the work. Over the next 10 minutes or so, she and I fed a steady diet of sliced carrots and zucchini while a red-footed tortoise indigenous to the same region circled our feet.

Going for Gold: Flair of French cooking thrives in Toledo
Preparing 13 million meals is an Olympic sport in itself, and that’s exactly what’s expected at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympic Games. Throughout the weeks of competitions, the food vision is described as providing French dairy products, 100 percent products of sustainable fishing, 100 percent free-range French eggs, and more to athletes and spectators alike. Providing more plant-based options is one focus of its food statement, with 60 percent of all meals served at the upcoming games set to be vegetable forward, shying away from more traditional fare that tend to be heavier and more meat and cheese centric.
