Shane McKenna Unveils new piece “Vantage Point” at the Helper Museum
The City of Helper continues to build on its reputation as one of the most artistic cities within the state of Utah, and that reputation grew even more on Friday, July 26 when the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil “Vantage Point,” a new piece from artist Shane McKenna.
Friends of the Helper Area Selling Raffle Tickets for Helper Express Playground
Friends of the Helper Area, a 501(C)3 nonprofit founded in 2021, is raising funds for a community project to create The Helper Express Inclusive Playground. At the heart of the Helper Express Playground is a large train structure that will be the main attraction and accessible to all kids including kids who use wheelchairs. Friends of the Helper Area is raising funds to match a grant by the Larry H. and Gail Miller Family Foundation to buy playground structures and ground cover by selling raffle tickets. The tickets are $1 each or a book of 10 tickets for $9. The main raffle prizes are:
Shantel Fitz Takes the Stage at International Days
28-year-old Shantel Fitzgerald is a local musician that grew up in Orangeville and is currently residing in Price. She will be performing at International Days on Saturday, July 27, at 7 p.m. in Washington Park. The multi-genre artist has had a different style and sound in all of her songs she has released thus far. Some of her biggest influences include Ed Sheeran, Twenty One Pilots, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift.
Melting Pot Earns Eat Well Utah Certificate
Southeast Utah Health Department (SEUHD) would like to announce that Eddy Gutierrez Director, Culinary and Nutritionist of the Melting Pot at the Castleview Hospital and his staff received the EAT WELL UTAH PARTICIPANT certificate. Gutierrez has completed the necessary requirements that the state required of him to receive this certificate. Eat Well Utah (EWU) is the Utah Department of Health and Human Services statewide initiative to help make healthy food choices more available and appealing wherever food is served or sold. Southeast Utah Health Department works with the state dietitian to make the necessary changes with interested venues to achieve the goals the state has set for them.
