New York Islanders play-by-play man Brendan Burke will be back behind the WFAN microphone, as he'll be calling the next two New York Yankees' series.

According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand back in May, the Islanders broadcaster will be on call for the Yankees series against the Baltimore Orioles and then the Atlanta Braves:

Both series will be home sets for the Yankees, with first pitch against Baltimore set for 7:05 PM ET on Tuesday night.

Legendary broadcaster John Sterling announced his retirement in April, leading to a vacancy in the team's booth, which has raised doubts about Burke's contract with MSG Networks.

Burke, who called two Yankees series for WFAN back in 2022, paid tribute to Sterling's legacy in an Islanders game against the New Jersey Devils in April:

Newsday's Neil Best reported prior to the end of the hockey season that Burke's contract with MSG was expiring this summer.

Burke has joined TNT's coverage of the NHL on their second broadcast trio, sitting behind Kenny Albert. Additionally, he worked games for Peacock's MLB Sunday Leadoff last season and is part of the platform's coverage of Big 10 football.

Burke's prior experience calling Yankees games and admiration for Sterling gives him another well-deserved opportunity in the sports media world.

However, this adds another layer of uncertainty to his status with the Islanders as we wrap up the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs.
