Prior to the start of NHL free agency on July 1, the New York Islanders locked up one of their restricted free agents on Wednesday.

The team announced that forward Kyle MacLean agreed to terms on a three-year contract.

Financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

In 32 games, he tallied four goals with five assists for nine points. His contributions continued in the postseason, where he added a goal in his first Stanley Cup Playoff game.

However, where he truly stood out was with his two-way play. He was always strong on pucks in both zones and played aggressively on the forecheck.

After MacLean's signing, the Islanders are left with four more pending RFAs.

Joining him at forward are Simon Holmstrom, Ruslan Iskhakov and Oliver Wahlstrom, with Dennis Cholowski rounding out the group on defense.
