GOTTA SEE IT: Islanders Duclair Mimics Pulock Playoff Save In SOFLO Summer Hockey League

On Monday, New York Islanders forward Anthony Duclair made a highlight-reel skate save for his team in the SOFLO Summer Hockey League :

Created in 2018, the SOFLO Hockey League hits the ice in Pompano, Florida, every offseason, with a mix of NHL and minor-league players coming down.

Islanders forward Kyle MacLean also participates in the Florida Summer League.

Duclair’s save, albeit not under the bright lights of a Stanley Cup Playoff game, was similar to that of Islanders defenseman Ryan Pulock and his famous block during the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In Game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Pulock saved a spin-o-rama shot by Ryan McDonagh to preserve the Islanders’ 3-2 lead within the dying seconds of the third period:

The Islanders went on to win Game 4, and while they didn’t come out on top in the end, Pulock’s effort was pivotal in keeping the Islanders in the series.

Duclair and Pulock will be on-ice teammates this upcoming fall; now they’ll have something in common.
