Drug bust in Alton linked to EA investigation
Charges have been filed in an Alton drug bust that originated in neighboring East Alton. ATF agents joined officers from Alton, East Alton, and Wood River in executing the drug-related search warrant at a home in the 3,200 block of Duco Street in the Milton neighborhood around 4pm on Tuesday.
Mud buildup in underground cave may have led to massive sinkhole in Alton park
A buildup of mud and sediment in an “ancient cave” that gave way may be the cause of a massive sinkhole in an Alton Park, Mayor David Goins said Tuesday. Goins said that’s based on preliminary findings by the U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration, but officials of the company that operates a limestone mine under the collapsed area said that they are unaware of that theory and that the investigation into the cause is continuing.
