North Olmsted and police union’s three-year contract includes hefty pay increases
NORTH OLMSTED, Ohio -- City Council recently approved a new three-year police department contract with its patrol officers, sergeants and lieutenants. The three-year deal with the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP)/ Ohio Labor Council, Inc. (OLC) includes a 4 percent increase in 2024, as well as 3 percent increases in 2025 and 2026.
25th anniversary for Avon Heritage Square Gazebo: Short Takes on Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville
City officials will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Avon Heritage Square Gazebo, corner of Stoney Ridge and Detroit roads, at 6 p.m. July 18. A short ceremony will take place prior to the scheduled summer concert at the gazebo to commemorate the anniversary. During the ceremony, officials plan to recognize the Avon Garden Club’s contribution to the gazebo, as well as display pictures from 1999 as the gazebo was being built.
All-girl Scout troop from Brunswick takes to the high seas for adventure camp
BRUNSWICK, Ohio -- When the Boy Scouts of America opened its membership to young women, it didn’t take long for Medina County girls to join the ranks. That includes Troop 7407, whose members recently returned from Sea Base, a National High Adventure Base of the Boy Scouts of America located in the Florida Keys.
Berea celebrates fun-filled Fourth of July
BEREA, Ohio – Children decked out in red, white and blue lined the Berea streets awaiting the barrage of candy they hoped would come, and it did. The Grindstone Festival parade took place on July 4, stepping off in the morning ahead of the annual city celebration that opened in the late afternoon and lasted into the evening.
LaGrange & Lewistown Library July Events
The LaGrange Library has many fun activities planned for July. Activities begin at 1:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Crafts will be on July 3.Story Time about Dinosaurs will be July 10 On July 17, Stories and Singing with Tracy about Dinosaurs. On July 31 Larry from Cahokia Mounds will present an Artifact Display, Cordage ( bracelets ) Flint napping, and Clay Pottery. The LaGrange Fire Truck will be there also on July 31 at 1 p.m. On August 1 at 11:30 a.m. The Zoo is Coming. Everyone is welcome. Karla Bradshaw is the librarian.
City of Rocky River Construction Update 7-5-2024
RMH Concrete & Foundations, Inc. will commence reconstruction work on Sunnyhill Dr. this upcoming Monday, July 8th. Work is expected to last 90 days and includes pavement reconstruction, storm sewer rehab, limited sidewalk removal/replacement and ADA compliant curb ramp installation from Beverly Hills Drive to Spencer Road. Any resident receiving a new apron or with limited access to their driveways will be given notice 48 hours in advance. During construction, traffic will be one way from Beverly Hills Drive to Spencer Rd. Please follow all posted traffic detours as the traffic pattern may change throughout the course of this project.
East 31st Street bridge will remain open through Columbia Gas project
