    Young girl flown to hospital after falling 15 feet into rocks at Cascade Park

    ELYRIA, Ohio (WJW) – Elyria first responders rescued a young girl who was seriously injured after falling into the rocks at Cascade Park Thursday afternoon.

    According to the Elyria Fire Department, firefighters and Elyria police officers were called to the park around 3 p.m.

    When they got there, officials found the child stuck between large rocks and the Black River near the West Falls. Investigators say she fell about 15 feet.

    First responders and park rangers made their way down to the girl, who was lifted up with a Stokes Basket.

    Waterspouts spotted over Lake Erie, Cedar Point

    Due to the extent of her injuries, the child was flown by Metro Lifeflight to MetroHealth Medical Center.

    “Crews from Lorain County Metro Parks Rangers, Lifecare, Elyria Fire, under the Command of Captain Mark Slack and Elyria Police did an exceptional job working together and safely extricating her which took roughly 40 minutes,” said Fire Chief Joseph Pronesti in a Facebook post . “All should be commended for a job well done.”
