Harrington explains why golfers enjoy playing at the Dick’s Open

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – Dick’s Open tournament week may be over but we have many more to look forward to.

As reported last Thursday, the Dick’s Open is here to stay in Endicott.

The tournament got extended through 2029, so we will see at least 5 more years of PGA Tour Champions Golf in Broome County.

Exciting news for the community, but also the players, many having said throughout the week that they enjoyed playing at En-Joie each year.

Perhaps none enjoy it more than Padraig Harrington, now the 3-time defending tournament champion, who spoke about what makes the Dick’s Open such an enjoyable event each year for the golfers, highlighting the support of professional golf from the local community.

“They really come out for the Champions Tour,” Harrington said. “They love their golf, they come out, they have a great sponsor in Dick’s, the whole community come out, the fans come out. We love being here. It’s great for us as players, we get to relive our past glories, hit shots under pressure, under stress, some good, some bad. So really this is a perfect Champions Tour event. You have that atmosphere, you feel like you’re a kid, back in the old days.”

The PGA Tour Champions golfers will get to enjoy playing in this tournament for at least another 5 years.

We already have a date for next year’s tournament, according to the Dick’s Open website, tournament week will take place from July 7th through the 13th of 2025.
