(WIVT/WBGH) – The community is continuing to show their support for a Union-Endicott graduate and his mother after they were tragically killed in a motor vehicle accident.

The Union-Endicott School District is holding a candlelight vigil for Colin Ferrell, 18, and Tiffany Ferrell, 44, on July 25 at the Pete Sylvester Baseball Field. Collin was a member of the class of 2024. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., community members will be able to share their memories while honoring the mother and son.

Collin and Tiffany were killed in a head-on collision on I-86 eastbound in the Town of Chemung on July 19. They were returning home from college orientation. According to police, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Collin was known for being kind, funny, and full of joy. He cared deeply about his family and friends. From a young age, he had a strong faith in God. Collin was a member of the Union Endicott Varsity Baseball team. He also played travel baseball for the Southern Tier Thunder for many years. Collin also enjoyed being outside in nature and liked to fish and golf. In lieu of followers, Collin’s family is asking others to go out into the world and spread love and kindness.

Tiffany was a kind and compassionate person, always lending a hand to those in need. She was also known to have a great sense of humor. She had a strong faith in God and her family says that was apparent by the ways she lived her life. She was actively involved in her children’s sports and was said to be a true team mom to those around her. She leaves behind two other children and her husband of 19 years. In lieu of followers, Tiffany’s family is asking others to pass along her memory by doing good for others.

Calling hours for Collin and Tiffany will be held on July 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. with service to follow at New Life Ministries Church, located at 201 Hill Avenue in Endicott. A Private burial will be held. A celebration of life will soon be announced.

Union-Endicott High School is offering counseling services through Thursday. From 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., those in need of support can utilize the services both in person and by phone. No appointment is needed. For support, call (607)757-2181 during the designated hours or call 988 for around the clock support.

A GoFundMe has been set up for the family. So far, $134,334 has been raised of the $140,000 goal. To donate, click here .
