    • Meet little Prince, a 7-year-old, neutered male Shih Tzu sporting his necktie. He weighs 24½ pounds, has a summer haircut, and is housebroken (and also pad and crate trained) because he doesn’t like going out in the rain. Prince likes cats, kids and big dogs. He will guard his toys and treats. Prince’s owner is disabled from a serious accident.

EARS is open from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesday Saturday at 500 N. Indiana Ave., Englewood.

See www.earsanimalrescue.com or call 941-681-3877 for the shelter, or 941-460-6757 for the thrift store. All donations go to help the EARS animals. Volunteers and donations are always needed.

These pets are available for adoption at the Suncoast Humane Society, 6781 San Casa Drive, Englewood. All adoptable pets are spayed/neutered and current with their shots. To learn about adoption hours and adoptable pets, see www.humane.org . ¦

    • Little Julia is a sweet, 6-month-old, spayed female kitten. She likes attention and has lived with other cats.

    • Aubie is a curious gal, always sniffing out new adventures. She’s sweet as honey, with a heart full of love for everyone she meets. Aubie is smart — she can figure out puzzles and tricks in no time. She’s a friendly soul — always ready to make new friends — but she’s also a bit goofy, too, and loves to make people laugh with her playful antics. When playtime is over and the day is done, Aubie makes the perfect cuddle buddy.

    • This is Gingy — a bit of a lone wolf that likes quiet corners and peaceful naps and is not one for the hustle and bustle. But don’t mistake his shyness for aloofness — he’s just careful and likes to take his time getting to know his surroundings and his people. Gingy can be quite the companion once he’s comfortable. He might not be the first one to greet you, but he’ll be the one staying by your side.
