DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — A person standing outside an Englewood hospital was struck by a car and dragged to his death Monday afternoon.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, a Cadillac backing into a parking spot at Miami Valley North went onto the sidewalk, through landscaping and into a guard shack before colliding with two men standing outside the hospital’s main entrance.

The vehicle then struck a Kia Forte, forcing it into a bus.

The 60-year-old driver of the Cadillac then shifted into drive, dragging the men a short distance before striking a pole and an unoccupied vehicle and coming to a stop.

One of the pedestrians, a 77-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian, a 74-year-old man, was transported to Miami Valley Hospital’s main campus with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Cadillac was treated for minor injuries.

The sheriff’s office currently believes impairment is “a contributing factor.”

Both the driver of the Kia Forte and the bus were uninjured.

The crash is still under investigation.
