Record: USC Upstate (0-0; 0-0 Big South) vs. USC Lancaster (0-0; 0-0 NJCAA) Upstate: The Spartans begin the season against the Lancers of USC Lancaster, looking to build on momentum from last year. Upstate returns 25 players, three of which were key scorers. Both Adrian Panaite and Dzenan Cerimagic each come off a freshman season with three goals and two assists. Ezra Hoffman, another key scorer for the Spartans, finished the 2023 season totaling two goals and two assists. Cooper Jennings returns in goal for Upstate after racking up 79 saves last season. Elijah Jackson, Carson Hickcok, and Anthony Cox all return to the backline for the Spartans. Jackson and Hickcok each played over 1,000 minutes last season.
Head Coach Kane Sweeney Expands USC Upstate Baseball Staff with Michael Wood
Kane Sweeney, the head baseball coach at USC Upstate, has boosted his inaugural coaching staff by hiring Michael Wood, who has a proven track record in college baseball. Wood joins after a successful five-year stint as an assistant and recruiting coordinator at Northwest Florida State College, which recently finished as the runner-up at the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series. Under his guidance, the Raiders consistently won over 30 games each full season and produced numerous student-athletes who advanced to Division I programs and the MLB draft. Wood's experience encompasses multiple coaching roles, including summer collegiate leagues, and he has demonstrated a commitment to developing players both on and off the field.
