Shuckers Fall to Blue Wahoos, 4-3, in Extra-Innings Affair
PENSACOLA, FL – In a game dominated by pitching, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-46, 15-9) fell to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (51-41, 13-11), 4-3 in 11 innings at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Thursday night. The game marked the longest of the second half for the Shuckers by innings and their longest of the season by time at three hours and 30 minutes.

PENSACOLA, FL – Behind 5.1 shutout innings from starter Bradley Blalock, the Biloxi Shuckers (45-45, 15-8) earned their ninth shutout win of the year in a 3-0 victory over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (50-41, 12-11) at Blue Wahoos Stadium on Wednesday night. With the win, the Shuckers became the first Southern League team to reach 15 wins in the second half.
Martorella’s Clutch Hit Ignites Blue Wahoos Walk-Off Win
Pensacola, Fla. - The Blue Wahoos’ game-winning celebration went all the way into right field. Nathan Martorella was thrilled to run that far in jubilation. Inserted two innings earlier as a pinch-hitter, Martorella broke through his recent struggles to deliver a two out, bases-loaded single in the 11th inning that capped a two-run rally and lifted the Blue Wahoos to a much-enjoyed 4-3 walk-off victory Thursday against the Biloxi Shuckers.
The Game of Life: College Edition Carrying on
This summer has definitely been one for the books, and it’s not over yet. I have definitely been learning how to go with the flow since I have been traveling all over the southeast, with my breaks being filled with my graduate classes and TA work. That being said, I just finished my last tournament with the team I coach for the summer, and it really hit me that summer is coming to a close. As I carry on into the fall, I will have a more fixed schedule focused more on softball (playing it, not coaching) and more hands-on thesis work. I will also be attending a conference for the Student Athletic Advisory Committee representing UWF, so that is something else to look forward to.
