Driver killed when electric vehicle crashes into sign post on I-25, catches fire
A driver was killed when their electric vehicle crashed into a signpost and caught fire on Interstate 25 south of Denver Monday evening, according to Denver Gazette news partner 9News. The crash happened just after 4:30 p.m. on northbound I-25 just south of Ridgegate Parkway, according to South Metro Fire Rescue.Colorado State Patrol said that the car ran into a signpost before catching fire.No other vehicles were involved, 9News reports.The Lone Tree Police Department said the driver was killed in the crash.The northbound lanes of the highway were closed at Castle Pines Parkway for several hours while crews investigated the crash. The interstate reopened around 8:45 p.m., 9news reports. The Lone Tree Police Department is looking for information from witnesses about the crash, according to a press release from the department Tuesday afternoon.The police asked motorists who were driving in the area and have a dash cam or other recording to contact Detective Shannon Jones at 720-509-1176 or email Shannon.jones@citylonetree.com.
