Ongoing Bayfront Parkway construction will be the topic of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation's online "Let's Talk Bayfront" series on Tuesday.

PennDOT project manager Justin Baker will discuss the progress of the construction underway at Sassafras Street Extension and additional work at State Street.

A hybrid roundabout is being built at Sassafras Extension. The roundabout will accommodate dual lanes of traffic entering from the east and west, plus a single lane entering from the north at the Bayfront Convention Center.

The $111.7 million project to improve the central portion of the parkway will continue in coming years with the lowering of the highway beneath State Street; construction of a roundabout and overhead pedestrian bridge at Holland Street; construction of a multi-use trail connecting existing pathways; and new sidewalks and lighting.

New traffic patterns to accommodate this season's construction also will be discussed during Tuesday's "Let's Talk Bayfront" program.

Listeners can log in through the program link using the Microsoft Teams app or Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge browsers. The live episode begins at 12:05 p.m.

Questions can be submitted in chats during the program or can be emailed in advance to: BayfrontProject@pa.gov.

The program also will be recorded and posted on the project website. The site also includes previous episodes and links to coming episodes.
