Elmira man arrested after barricading himself in apartment
George Wilson, who allegedly fell out of an attic in an Elmira apartment, is now in jail after barricading himself inside and refusing to come out. According to Elmira Police, Wilson fell from the attic of an apartment on West First Street. The tenant informed police that Wilson was still inside the apartment.
Elmira man arrested for attempted murder
The Elmira Police Department arrested a 33-year-old Elmira man for attempted murder following an incident last week. According to police, John Havens was charged with attempted murder in the second degree, a Class B felony, after they found a 33-year-old man with stab wounds to his neck on the 400 block of Clinton Street on Thursday.

Patrick Woodward, suspect in Elmira armed burglary, will serve 3 years in prison
One of three suspects charged in connection with an armed burglary in January in the City of Elmira will serve three years in prison for his role in the crime. Patrick Woodard, 24, of Elmira, was also sentenced in Chemung County Court this week to three years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty June 3 to a count of second-degree attempted burglary.
