FROM NYSP: Trooper Nicholas F. Clark, 29, was killed on July 2, 2018, when he responded to a report of a suicidal male in the town of Erwin, Steuben County. During the incident, the suspect exited the rear of the house and fired a shot, striking and killing Trooper Clark.

Two Elmira residents charged in fentanyl-related death of their two-year-old child
Two parents have been charged with manslaughter in connection with the 2023 death of their two-year-old child. On July 2nd of last year, the Elmira Police Department, Elmira Fire Department and Erway Ambulance responded to an address on the 400 block of Gaines Street for a report of an unresponsive two-year-old child. Lifesaving measures were performed on the child who was then life-flighted to Rochester.
