Irmo Varsity Football Beats Oceanside To Begin The Season 1-0
Irmo starts the 2024 season with a 35-7 victory over the Oceanside Landsharks. The Yellow Jackets’ first TD of the season came after a long TD pass from Senior QB AJ Brand to Sophomore WR Maleek Miller for 76 yards. Irmo went ahead 14-0 after another TD pass by Brand. This time senior Joey Albritton caught it for a 22-yard score. Oceanside scored a TD in the 2nd quarter but Irmo scored again right before halftime after AJ Brand ran for a 21-yard TD. In the 4th quarter, AJ Brand threw a 3rd TD pass to senior Kyle Mitchell for a 4-yard score. Senior Anton Jones ran it in to score late in the 4th quarter to make it a 35-7 final.
